01North Korea launches new destroyer

North Korean leader Kim Jong un presided over the launch ceremony of a new 5000 ton destroyer. It is reported that the destroyer, named "Choi Hyun," not only has the ability to engage in air, ship, anti submarine, and anti ballistic missile operations, but also carries hypersonic strategic cruise missiles and tactical ballistic missiles. Kim Jong un mentioned for the first time at the ceremony the "median line waters," stating that the Choi Hyun will carry out missions in coastal defense waters and median line waters.

• The United States and South Korea are currently conducting joint military exercises to simulate a nuclear attack on North Korea.

• In 1953, the United Nations Command established the actual control line between South Korea and North Korea in the waters bordering the West Sea and East China Sea, but this line has not been officially recognized by North Korea to this day. According to the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, when the territorial waters of two countries overlap, a median line is usually established. Kim Jong un may use the term "median line waters" or propose new demarcation claims.
  

• North Korea is shifting from "asymmetric deterrence" (nuclear+missile) to "symmetric deterrence" (conventional naval forces), which is an epigenetic adjustment of the Kim regime's survival strategy - by demonstrating diverse deterrence capabilities and reducing the risk of being preemptively attacked.

01Japan launches' overseas rice shopping 'craze
